JUNE

INAUGURATION OF THE SCHOOL
The very first Delhi World Public School in Bangalore was opened on 20th June 2018. Shri Salman Khurshid and Mrs Louise Khurshid, Chairman of Delhi World Foundation officially inaugurated the school. The school is directly governed by the Delhi World Foundation and is a ‘core’ school of the Foundation.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
The Parent Orientation Programme was organised on 30th June, 2018 in the school. The aim was to familiarize and acquaint the parents as ‘partners in progress’ with the curriculum, rules and regulations of the school, teaching methodologies and the co-scholastic activities.

JULY

MANNER'S WEEK
Manner’s week was celebrated in the school from 9th July to 13th July. Various activities were conducted during this week that enhanced the Dining Etiquettes and Table manners.

GREEN WEEK
The green week was celebrated from 23rd July to 27th July, aspart of the celebrations, our tiny tots of pre-primary enjoyed various activities planned for them. They were dressed in green attire and a story corner was organised that was completely filled with green activities that the students did throughout the week.

AUGUST

PINK AND BLUE WEEK
Gender stereotypes tends to associate pink as the colour of girls and blue as the colour of boys. To break this stereotype,  the students were dressed in opposite colours, the pre-primary students celebrated Pink and Blue week from 6th August to 10th August. The students visited “Metro Station” and “Petrol Bunk” to see how the women are breaking the stereotypes by taking up jobs that were earlier done only by men. They gave Super Girl capeas momentous to female loco pilots at the Metro station and petrol bunk.

INDEPENDENCE DAY
Patriotic fervour and colourful activities on Independence celebrations at DWPS !! Independence day special assembly was celebrated in our school on 14th August. Commemorating the 72nd Independence day, presented a mélange of patriotic activities which created an atmosphere of national pride among everyone. To keep aglow the flame of patriotism , the students from classes Nursery – V performed various cultural programs that awakened everyone’s patriotic feelings towards their motherland . A movie was screened to make the students understand the sacrifices of the soldiers, our true heroes in real life!!

LITERARY WEEK
The sky is the limit for the little inquisitive minds and hearts!! In order to quench the thirst of Literature and the literary week was organised from 20th August to 28th August with full fervour and enthusiasm. To understand the essence of English literature literary week had in store an array of activities that provided a platform for our children to showcase their literary talent. Some activities that included were picture poetry, speech bubble, humorous poetry, storytelling and colouring page.

September

GANESH CHATURTHI
Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with great pomp and gaiety in our school on 11th September. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati. The festival is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganeshotsav. The festival started with Aarti ceremony and students beautifully mesmerized everyone with their dance and songs. Students enjoyed making idols of Ganesha using clay and origamis. The celebration ended with great joy, happiness and devotion towards Lord Ganesha.

HINDI DIWAS
This year the students celebrated Hindi Diwas on 14 September 2018. The whole event came together and was able to portray the significance of this widely known and spoken language- Hindi. Students enthusiastically took part in recitation competition, narrated stories and spoke about the authors

Yellow Day
The kindergarten students learnt about the colour yellow through various activities such as story telling , craft and music

International Peace Week
The students of Grade I to V celebrated the international peace week between24th to 28th September. The students learnt how we could incorporate the principles of ahimsa in our everyday life by being mindful. The students learnt about peace through story, art, dance and music activities.

TEACHER’S DAY
It’s always a joy to see when our students perform. On 4th September we witnessed one such surprise celebration that was organised by our little children of grade IV and V students. Their little hands had created beautiful book mark for the teachers as a gift.

October

DUSSHERA FESTIVAL
Dusshera was celebrated showcasing our rich culture with the beautiful traditional display of dolls in the school. Students displayed the different ways of celebration done in different places of the country through their dance performance and songs.

NOVEMBER

Deepawali and kannada Rajyotsava Special Assembly
The school celebrated the festival of lights and Deepavali on 2nd November 2018. The students enacted the story of Ramayana through a musical and sang kannada patriotic songs.

CHILDREN’S DAY
Children’s day was celebrated on 14th November. Children were dressed as superheroes. There was a lot of excitement in the air as they saw their teachers perform for them. They enjoyed dancing, singing and playing games with their teachers. Students were provided a platform to showcase their talent. The day began and ended on a happy note.

National Library Week:
The national library week was celebrated between 14th November to 20th November to promote reading among children. The children took part in various activities such as role play, narrating a story using story cubes and other activies.

CLASS ASSEMBLY OF UKG:
“Create an environment that supports your desire to grow!” The class assembly presented by the students of UKG on Friday 23rd November was a great treat to watch. They enacted the different areas of learning to their parents. Parents had boundaries for their happiness when they involved along with their children for activities. Children carried butterfly head gear to fly, fly, fly!!

December

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS
Christmas day , a festival inspiring the spirit of sharing and caring was celebrated in our school with enthusiasm on December 24, 2018.The teachers sang melodious carols to wish their fellow teachers and students. Later , classwise activities were organized which includes making of Christmas tree from recycle materials. The festive spirit was witnessed among school student and staff.

Dr. Suess Week
The more that you read the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go. -Dr. Seuss Theodor Seuss Geisel was an American children’s author, political cartoonist and animator. He is known for his work writing and illustrating more than 60 books under the pen name Doctor Seuss. So, in our school we got an opportunity to celebrate his birthday that was on march 2. We read and shown stories like “The Foot Book”, “Wacky Wednesday”, “Green Eggs and ham” and many. And followed by activities like Foot print, finding wacky things, fish activity, story slides etc.,

International Women in Science Week
“International Women in Science Week” was celebrated in the school from 11th to 15th February 2018. A week-long celebration was included a string of activities for children to understand the importance of the efforts, struggles and challenges faced the women in the field of science. Role model activity, Guest Lecture by Dr. Hema Tiwari Chaturvedi, Field trip to Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium and National Art Gallery, Science Model Making and learning through movie were organised during the week. All the activities focused on the contribution of women in the field of science.

JUNE

World Environmental Day
World Environmental day was celebrated in school from 3rd June to 7th June. Various activites were planned and conducted like Learning through movies- “ My Home is Green “, Garde IV TO VII , visited Blue Cat Paper- that is a complete chemical free paper and learnt how the paper is manufactured through recycling process, the students from Grade I to VII planted neem and Magnolia champaca saplings. The students of Grade I to VII, made strip-art collage using old newspaper and created collages of endangered animals. Mr.K.Raju-Environment Officer from Karnataka State Pollution Board addressed the students and spoke to them about the measures taken by the KSPB towards Environment.

GREEN WEEK
With the aim to infuse the children with the importance of nature and environment, Green week was celebrated by the pre-primary students from 24 to 28 June, 2019 . The students indulged in various activities around the theme. Being sensitive towards nature and understanding the importance of nature should be emphasized from early years. The colour green represents prosperity and harmony. It was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The shades of green filled the air with freshness and celebrations. The objective of this week was to introduce student to the colour. In an interactive way the students learnt about the importance of green colour.

JULY

LITERARY WEEK
The literary week for the academic year 2019-20 started with an array of activities from 1st July to 5th July. The objective of this week was to deeply involve students in reading, writing, improvising, imagining and putting up their literary knowledge to practical use. The literary week unfolded by providing students by creating an opportunity to imagine and appreciate literature. To make English literature enjoyable for our students, a series of activities including Humorous poetry, Story board, Picture prompt, Movie, Black out poetry, Literary prop, Taboo game were organized. During the week students traveled to the world of fantasy, guided by various activities that encouraged them to nurture and harness the power of Literature. It showcased myriad activities and students participated to show their creative side.

Orange week
The kindergarten students celebrated ‘Orange week’ from 15/7/2019 to 19/7/2019 as the thematic week for the month of July. For the better understanding of the orange colour, orange week has been celebrated with lots of art, dance and song. The students learnt about the colour orange through various activities such as: *Making paper cup tiger *Orange paper mask *Made orange juice

AUGUST

Independence day celebration

SEPTEMBER

Julia Donaldson week
The students from Nursery to Grade II celebrated Julia Donaldson Week. This week was an effort to introduce the students to the world of reading and developing an interest in books. The students had a read aloud stories from Julia Donaldson books and this was followed by making characters from her stories using clay.

OCTOBER

World Food Day
The kindergarten students learnt about healthy food through world food day celebrations. The students also learnt that 'sharing is caring', when they shared the food that they had brought with their friends.

Global Hand Wash Day
The kindergarten students of Delhi World Public School, learnt about hygiene by celebrating global hand washing day. The students understood the importance of hand wash and learnt how to wash their hands.

NOVEMBER

Tongue Twister Week
The students of Nursery to Grade II had fun learning tongue twisters for a week. Tongue twisters is a fun filled activity that enhances speech and language development. The week long activity had the screening of an animated movie, tongue twister games and tongue twister marathon.

Library Week
To promote reading, Delhi World Public School celebrated library week. As part of the celebrations, students had to read a book and design the cover page. As part of the library week, we are having ‘Cold Turkey Challenge’ for an entire week. The cold turkey challenge is a challenge to stay away from television, iPad and phone for an entire week . Instead the students can be encouraged to read books, do art work, learn new skills, play indoor and outdoor games, help at home, speak with grandparents, organise their room, study table, clean their rooms etc.

Children's Day Celebration
Superheroes and Harry Potter descended at Delhi World Public School on 14th November! The teachers put up an amazing show for the children on the children's day. This was followed by the screening of the movie, 'Matilda' and talent show by the children.

Karnataka Rajyotsava Celebration
Festivals promotes diversity. To fulfil this aim the Rajyotsava was celebrated on 26th of Nov 2019 with great vigour and grandeur. It was a well spent morning with splash of music, dance and skit celebrating the anniversary of the formation of our state Karnataka.

January

Mythology week
The students of Delhi World Public School, presented a cultural program that brought together mythological story behind the Sankranti Festival and the way Sankranti festival is celebrated across India. The students performed various cultural program and enthralled the audience with their performance.

Inter-school Football Tournament-Victory Cup 2020
Delhi World Public School, hosted its first Inter-school football tournament in 4 categories. The day 1 and 2 saw 8 schools and 13 teams participating in the tournament.

February

Math Week
At Delhi World Public School, the effort is teach concepts through activities. The students of Grade I to VII had 'Math Week', thematic week that culminated in the math exhibition. The students presented plays adapted from the books Mathematwist: Number Tales From Around The World and History of Mathematics. The students also interpreted math through Art, hands on activities, board games and model.

World Wildlife Week
World wildlife week was celebrated in the month of February. On day one of the world wildlife week, the students brought to life their favourite animals using clay. The students composed shape poetry about different animals as part of the wildlife week celebrations. The students of Grade IV to VII had fun painting animal print on socks, as part of the world wildlife week celebrations.The students of Grade I to III made animal puppets as part of the world wildlife celebrations.
